Ro Robertson is having a moment. The artist, whose practice includes sculpture, large-scale drawing, video and installations, has work in four exhibitions across England. One of them, The Ribs Begin to Rise at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art is their first solo institutional show and marks Robertson’s return to their hometown of Sunderland.

Ro Robertson’s first institutional solo exhibition at The Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art in Sunderland is now open. The show features a newly commissioned series of sculptural works alongside large-scale drawings and a video installation.

Part of the Modern Thresholds series of displays at Tate St Ives, Robertson’s installation of sculpture and works on paper, Interlude, has been extended to December 2026.
