Drawing exclusively from the museum’s collection, the exhibition brings together artists including Kara Walker, Hank Willis Thomas, Catherine Opie, Gordon Parks, Jacob Lawrence and Richard Avedon, examining how identity is constructed, performed and contested across American art.
