For Liste 2026, Maximillian William will present an installation by Houston-based artist Jaylon Israel Hicks, his first in Europe. Blending politics with personal narrative, Hicks takes a keen interest in the nuances of medium and materiality in a practice that spans sculpture, painting and photography. Hicks interrogates the promises of the American dream, the politics of excess and obsolescence, and the tension between surface and meaning. For Liste, Hicks will present a large-scale installation accompanied by a smaller sculpture, conjuring a resonant space between immaterial ideas and their conversion into sculptural form.
