Presenting a new body of work that embodies natural forces in flux, Robertson centers the vital life source of the sun’s energy whilst acknowledging the impact of the climate crisis and man-made interruptions to the interconnected cycles of water, land and light.
Titled *The Shining Landscape,* a term used for the peninsula of West Cornwall by the ancient Greeks, these works consist of a three-meter wide work on paper of the same name initially made ‘en plein air’ at *To Moor the Sun,* which is the artists new Queer Feminist land and experimental art project in West Cornwall.
This abstract and automatically made work on paper in gouache, charcoal and ink stick was made on the woodland floor mapping through the shadows of the trees and harnesses an entwined dance of light and water passing through the earth. The work on paper is accompanied by constructed steel sculpture which appear to pass solar type shapes through the landscape of the painting. The three sculptures together are titled *Ecliptic Plane* which is the name given to the path of the sun. These sculptures, which originate as geometric line drawings and rely on mathematics, are folded and riveted, offering a contrast to the wildly flowing composition of *The Shining Landscape*. Together they hold the fundamental push and pull of order and disorder within the systems of the universe.
